Myagdi, May 15 – A tragic incident has come to light in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality–5, Malkawang of Myagdi district, where a couple has been arrested for the brutal murder of a laborer who worked in their home.
According to Inspector Sagar Paudel of the District Police Office, Myagdi, the arrested individuals are 57-year-old Bal Bahadur Damai and his wife Karma Ti Darjee. They are accused of murdering 46-year-old Man Bahadur Damai, who had been working as a laborer at their residence.
The incident came to public attention on Baisakh 28 (May 10), when locals reported an unidentified body found in a remote area. A police team from the Darwang Area Police Office was deployed, and they confirmed the deceased as Man Bahadur Damai.
Inspector Paudel stated that the victim was fatally attacked with a blunt object. His body was later discovered around 700 meters downhill from the suspects’ residence. The body showed signs of multiple injuries, particularly to the head and other vital parts, indicating a violent assault.
At present, investigators are trying to determine whether the murder occurred inside the house and the body was disposed of later, or whether the crime took place at the location where the body was discovered.
The Myagdi District Court has granted an extension of judicial custody for the accused couple, and the investigation is ongoing under charges of premeditated homicide.
Local residents have expressed shock over the incident, demanding that the culprits be brought to justice with strict legal action.
