Two Killed, Three Seriously Injured After Being Crushed by a Tree in Nawalparasi

West Nawalparasi – Two people have died and three others were seriously injured after being crushed by a tree in Sunwal, West Nawalparasi.

On Friday afternoon, during a thunderstorm with heavy winds and rain, a large tree fell on locals who were taking shelter at a roadside waiting shed in Chhapara, Ward No. 7 of Sunwal Municipality.

According to Santosh Paudel, Chief of the Area Police Office in Sunwal, 30-year-old Mira Bayambu and 40-year-old Durga Bahadur Pun, both from Sunwal-7, died on the spot.

Three others—40-year-old Naramati Pariyar, 51-year-old Durgeshwara Khamcha, and 22-year-old Anil Thapa, also from the same area—were injured in the incident and are currently receiving treatment at Devdaha Medical College, Rupandehi.

The storm caused the tree to fall directly on the waiting shed, which also collapsed due to the impact, according to police.

Strong winds and heavy rain were reported on Friday afternoon in Nawalparasi and surrounding districts. The weather is now gradually improving.
