Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and former President Bidya Devi Bhandari held a meeting on Sunday at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur.
Former President Bhandari visited the UML central office in the afternoon to meet Prime Minister Oli. The meeting is said to have focused on internal party matters and Bhandari’s potential future political role.
After completing her tenure as President, Bhandari relinquished all state facilities except for security. She now appears interested in returning to active politics within the UML.
Although she has reportedly sought to renew her party membership, the UML has kept the request on hold. The party is currently considering whether it is appropriate for a former head of state to re-engage in active partisan politics and is expected to make a decision after further discussion.
