Monsoon Rains Cause Widespread Destruction in Pakistan’s Punjab, 123 Dead So Far

Severe monsoon rains in Pakistan’s Punjab province have caused extensive damage to life and property. In the past 48 hours alone, 70 people have lost their lives, bringing the total death toll since the end of June to 123.

The heavy rains have led to roof collapses, landslides, and flash floods, resulting in significant destruction. Since the onset of the monsoon season on June 25, a total of 462 people have been reported injured.

Friday recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 10 deaths reported across several districts. Three deaths each occurred in Chiniot and Lahore, while Okara reported two, and Chakwal and Sargodha each reported one fatality.

Authorities are continuing rescue and relief operations in the affected regions.
