Former Madhesh Province Chief Rajesh Jha Ahiraj has been arrested on charges of raping a young woman. According to the District Police Office, Kathmandu, Ahiraj was taken into custody on Sunday in Baneshwor after a complaint was filed against him.
He was presented before the Kathmandu District Court the same day, where the court granted police five days of judicial custody for investigation.
The complaint was originally filed at the District Police Office on Magh 3, 2080 BS. Based on this, the Kathmandu District Court had issued an arrest warrant on Chaitra 25, 2080 BS.
The incident reportedly took place on Jestha 4, 2081 BS. The victim claims that Ahiraj repeatedly raped her in his room when no one else was around and threatened to kill her if she spoke about it.
Police are currently investigating the case further.
