Nepal Returns Home as Runners-Up in U-20 Women’s SAFF Championship

The Nepali U-20 women’s football team returned home on Tuesday after finishing as runners-up in the U-20 SAFF Women’s Championship, which concluded on Monday in Bangladesh.

The team was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by officials from the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA). Nepal ended up in second place after suffering a 4–0 defeat to hosts Bangladesh in what was considered the virtual final of the league-stage tournament.

Bangladesh remained unbeaten throughout the championship to lift the title. Nepal had also lost their first league match against Bangladesh by 3–2.

The tournament was conducted in a double round-robin format. Nepal had earlier registered impressive wins over Sri Lanka in both matches with identical 7–0 scorelines. Similarly, Nepal defeated Bhutan 6–1 in one match and 8–0 in the other.

Among the four participating teams, Bhutan secured third place, while Sri Lanka finished fourth.
