Senior Forest Officer Arrested Red-Handed with Over Rs 700,000 Bribe in Kailali

Senior Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office in Dhangadhi, Kailali, Purna Shankar Yadav, has been caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of over Rs 700,000.

According to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Yadav was arrested while receiving Rs 731,000 in bribe money.

Yadav had allegedly demanded the bribe from a service seeker in exchange for issuing documentation and clearance (release order) for timber extracted from Gwasi Community Forest in Chure Rural Municipality-6 of Kailali district.

Acting on a formal complaint, a team from the CIAA office in Kanchanpur apprehended Yadav with the bribe amount in his possession, confirmed Commission spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel.

Further investigation is underway.
