The teaser of the upcoming Nepali film RIMAI has been released, along with the announcement of a new release date. Initially scheduled to hit theaters on Bhadra 27, the film will now be released earlier, on Bhadra 20.
With its new release date, RIMAI is set to face a box office clash with the comedy film Chitthi, which features popular comedian Khadkabahadur Pun in the lead role.
The teaser opens with a scene where Daya Hang Rai’s character goes to ask for a girl’s hand in marriage. Rai plays the role of Ashbahadur Gurung. The teaser also reintroduces the beloved Kabbadi pair—Daya Hang Rai and Rishma Gurung (Kaji and Maiya)—in romantic roles once again. Arpan Thapa’s character appears mysterious, portrayed as a betrayed lover.
The teaser hints that the film revolves around themes of love, marriage, and heartbreak within the Gurung community. Produced under the banner of Gorkha Siranchowk & Ligligkot Films in association with Roteping Entertainment, the film also stars Kavita Ale Magar, Mao Tse Gurung, and Pushkar Gurung, among others.
Written by Upendra Subba and shot by cinematographer Shailendra Dhoj Karki, RIMAI is directed by Khil Bahadur Gurung. The producers are Tika Gurung, Jita Yatri Gurung, and Dunbahadur Ghale.
