Sarlahi, July 23 – Following an incident of physical assault on a doctor, all services except emergency care at the Provincial Hospital in Malangawa, the district headquarters, have been halted.
Outpatient Department (OPD) services have been suspended since Tuesday in protest of the attack. According to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Sanjeev Singh, all services except for emergency care have been shut down, demanding legal action against the perpetrator.
The incident occurred on Monday night when relatives of a patient—who had sustained a bone fracture—assaulted orthopedic doctor Dr. Krishnajung Sah over a referral decision to another facility for further treatment.
In response, doctors and healthcare staff at the hospital have suspended services for two consecutive days, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of the attacker.
The Nepal Medical Association, Provincial Committee, has issued a press release demanding immediate legal action against the person responsible for assaulting the doctor.
With OPD services halted, many patients arriving at the hospital have been left without medical attention, causing widespread inconvenience.
