NEPSE Index Sees Modest Gain, Closes at 2,978.88 Points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a modest improvement today, rising by 5.17 points to close at 2,978.88. A total of 319 companies were traded, with 44,866,159 shares changing hands across 170,318 transactions. The total trading volume amounted to approximately NPR 19.57 billion.

Several sectors saw a decline, including banking (down 0.25%), development banks (down 0.92%), hotels and tourism (down 1.10%), life insurance (down 0.50%), microfinance (down 0.72%), and non-life insurance (down 0.61%). However, other sectors posted gains, with the finance group recording the highest increase at 3.23%. Hydropower rose by 0.88%, investment by 0.90%, manufacturing and processing by 0.40%, mutual funds by 0.15%, trading by 0.31%, and the others group by 1.44%.

Trade Tower Limited and Sanvi Energy Limited hit the upper circuit limit, reflecting strong buying interest. On the other hand, Bhugol Energy Development Company Limited experienced the biggest loss, with its share price falling by 5.32%.

In terms of transaction value, Himalayan Reinsurance Limited led the market with shares worth NPR 781 million traded. Meanwhile, Nepal Infrastructure Bank Limited had the highest number of shares traded, totaling 1,954,130 units.
