Himali Rural Municipality, [District] — July 23: Three people have died and 13 others were injured in a jeep accident this morning in Himali Rural Municipality–5. The injured were rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter and taken for treatment.
According to Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office, the jeep (Ba Pa 03–001 Ja 0338) was carrying passengers beyond its capacity and lost control on a rough road while traveling from Kyudi village to the ward office in Kawadi, resulting in the accident.
Seventy-six-year-old Bijoura Rokaya and seventy-five-year-old Banchkala Rokaya died on the spot. Thirty-five-year-old Juneli Rokaya died during the rescue operation.
The injured include 23-year-old jeep driver Gauri Budha, 35-year-old Banchalal Rokaya, 70-year-old Bhadauri Rokaya, 22-year-old Banchdhan Rokaya, and 45-year-old Bir Bahadur Rokaya, among others. They were airlifted by a Nepal Army helicopter to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet, said Assistant Chief District Officer Sheetal Bahadur Rawal.
Rawal informed that due to limited capacity, all injured could not be rescued at once. Multiple trips were made to ensure everyone was safely taken for further treatment.
Following the accident, the Himali Rural Municipality mobilized ambulances and health workers for immediate response and preliminary medical care.
