The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected youth parliamentarians under the National Youth Parliament campaign, coordinated by the Global Youth Parliament, was successfully conducted today at the Rastriya Sabha Griha (National Assembly Hall), Kathmandu. A total of 165 youth representatives, one from each electoral constituency across the country, were selected through online voting and took their oath of office during this grand event.

The ceremony was graced by prominent national figures, including Kulman Ghising, Coordinator of the Ujyalo Nepal Campaign; Captain Vijay Lama, a celebrated motivational figure; Bhawani Rana, former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI); and renowned cardiologist Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, among others. Their presence inspired and encouraged the youth to play a more meaningful role in national development.
The National Youth Parliament aims to empower young people by involving them in democratic processes, policy-making, and leadership roles. This campaign is expected to contribute significantly to youth leadership development, political and social awareness, and policy engagement. The term for the elected representatives will be two years.

Speaking at the event, Divakar Aryal, President of the Global Youth Parliament, stated, “The condition of the nation cannot be transformed by political change alone. Without uniting visionary and capable youth, meaningful transformation is impossible.” He emphasized that the Youth Parliament would serve as a platform to empower new-generation leaders and create constructive political pressure.
Campaign coordinator Saroj Baniya explained that the Youth Parliament aims to bring together voices of young people from across the country and ensure their participation in political and social decision-making processes, enabling them to play a direct role in national policy formation.

In the coming days, the youth parliamentarians will actively participate in parliamentary sessions, policy dialogues, leadership training, and various programs related to social issues. Their involvement is expected to foster a culture of inclusive governance and responsible youth leadership.
As Nepal strides toward building a more inclusive and democratic society, the National Youth Parliament stands as a powerful symbol of youth engagement and a vital step toward meaningful nation-building through young voices.
