The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that monsoon activity remains weak across the country. The monsoon trough is currently located south of the average position, which has reduced the likelihood of widespread rainfall.
According to the department, partly to generally cloudy weather is expected on Thursday in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while the remaining provinces will see partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly regions of these provinces and at isolated locations in other areas.
For tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, while partly cloudy weather is forecast elsewhere. The department’s bulletin states that light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati, and at a few places in other provinces. Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi Province and parts of Madhesh Province.
The department has advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious due to the possibility of localized heavy rainfall.
