Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Raghuj Pant, has claimed that 80% of youths living in Kathmandu earn more than NPR 200,000 per month without formal jobs, working from home.
Speaking at an SEE felicitation program organized by the CPN-UML Ward Committee of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-15 on Saturday, Minister Pant said that many youths are earning by taking projects from various foreign companies and completing them using laptops from home.
According to him, such remote jobs have contributed to an annual income of over NPR 100 billion for Nepal. He further stated that if such opportunities are utilized properly, individuals can earn over NPR 800,000 annually.
Minister Pant emphasized that traditional career aspirations like becoming doctors or engineers are no longer the only options, as new employment opportunities in the digital economy are emerging.
