Five Nepali Citizens Released from Iranian Prison, Repatriated to Nepal

Five Nepali citizens who were imprisoned in Iran for various reasons have been repatriated to Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the release was made possible after an Iranian court issued an order to free the detainees. The repatriation process was carried out with the assistance of Nepal’s Honorary Consul General in Tehran and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Earlier, nine other Nepali citizens were rescued from Iran and brought back to Nepal in three separate batches via flights operated by Indian airlines. These rescues were arranged after the Government of Nepal requested assistance from the Government of India during their evacuation of Indian nationals.
