Monsoon Activity Weak Across Nepal; Moderate Rain Likely in Hill Regions

Monsoon activity remains weak across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The monsoon trough is currently positioned around its average location.

At present, most hilly areas are generally cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

For Saturday afternoon, the forecast indicates generally cloudy conditions in the hilly regions, while other areas will have partly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few other places across the country. Some parts of Koshi Province’s Tarai and Madhesh Province may experience strong winds.

Later tonight, hilly regions including Koshi Province are expected to remain generally cloudy, while other parts of the country will see partial cloud cover. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is possible in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces and a few other areas.

The department has also warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two places of Koshi’s Tarai and hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Authorities and the public are advised to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins.
