Suraj Kharel, the Lumbini Province President of the CPN-UML’s sister organization, Youth Association Nepal, has been suspended. The action comes after Kharel openly supported former President Bidya Devi Bhandari following her announcement to actively engage in politics.
The Youth Association decided on Friday to suspend Kharel for one year. Suman Puri, who had previously contested for the position of Youth Association president and lost, has also sided with Bhandari.
Similarly, Prakash Paudel, who was defeated in the election for the presidency of ANNFSU (All Nepal National Free Students’ Union), has also expressed support for Bhandari. Both Puri and Paudel attended the press meet organized by Bhandari yesterday.
