NEPSE Index Falls by 18 Points, Turnover Hits 11-Month High at NPR 26.57 Billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index experienced a notable decline today, dropping by 18.44 points to settle at 2,964.20 points. Despite this fall, the market recorded one of its largest turnovers in recent months, reaching NPR 26.57 billion, the highest in almost 11 months. During the trading session, 58.65 million shares of 323 companies were traded in 203,658 transactions.

In terms of sector performance, only a few groups managed to stay positive. The Development Bank sector rose by 1.23%, Manufacturing and Processing increased by 1.08%, Mutual Funds gained 0.39%, and the Trading sector advanced by 1.44%. However, most other sectors ended in the red. The Banking sector declined by 0.71%, Finance by 1.99%, Hotel and Tourism by 1.79%, Hydropower by 1.09%, Investment by 1.66%, Life Insurance by 1.35%, Non-life Insurance by 0.67%, and the Others category dropped by 0.86%.

Among individual stocks, Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. and Trade Tower Ltd. hit the positive circuit limit, showing strong upward momentum. Conversely, Narayani Development Bank Ltd. suffered the sharpest decline, falling by 6.34%. In terms of turnover, Shivam Cement Ltd. led the market with transactions worth NPR 1.02 billion, while Laxmi Sunrise Bank Promoter shares saw the highest trading volume, with 2.12 million units exchanged.
