A nationwide campaign launched in support of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has garnered 2.8 million signatures, according to RSP Vice-Chair Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Addressing a gathering organized by the RSP Ramechhap Umakunda–Kathmandu Contact Committee on Saturday, Dr. Wagle shared the update on the mass mobilization effort.
Dr. Wagle also accused major political parties of forming governments not for national interest, but to protect files of corrupt individuals. He stated that Nepal has been witnessing rare political experiments driven solely to shield a few corrupt figures, rather than to serve the people.
Criticizing the current government, Wagle expressed disappointment that ministers from an administration elected on promises of prosperity and good governance are themselves mired in corruption. He added that the most significant act by the current government under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli seems to be the arrest of Rabi Lamichhane, which he described as a politically motivated move.
Dr. Wagle further warned that the major parties involved will soon face the consequences of their actions, hinting at growing public discontent and a potential political backlash.
