Monsoon winds are currently influencing weather conditions across Nepal, bringing rainfall to Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The monsoon trough is positioned near its normal location. This afternoon, the country is expected to experience generally cloudy skies, with chances of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few places in the Terai. One or two places in the hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces may also see heavy rainfall.
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly cloudy across the country. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Gandaki Province and a few places in the Terai. Residents of flood and landslide-prone areas are advised to stay alert due to the possibility of heavy downpours triggering localized hazards.
