Rastriya Swatantra Party Holds Parliamentary Meeting in Bhairahawa Ahead of By-Election Campaign

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) held a parliamentary party meeting in Bhairahawa on Wednesday afternoon. According to party deputy leader Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the meeting took place at Ramada Hotel at 1 PM.

The agenda of the meeting included a review of the current (monsoon) parliamentary session, discussions on the “cooling-off period,” and evaluations of the performance of constitutional bodies.

RSP leaders and Members of Parliament are currently in Bhairahawa as part of a campaign focused on Rupandehi-3, where a by-election is scheduled. During their stay, they have also met with party president Rabi Lamichhane, who is currently in custody at Bhairahawa jail. On Tuesday, Acting President of the party, DP Aryal (Dol Prasad), visited Lamichhane for consultations.

“We are organizing the meeting here because the MPs are already in Bhairahawa for the Rupandehi-3 focused campaign. The meeting will cover various issues including the current parliamentary session, the cooling-off period, and the functioning of constitutional bodies,” said Deputy Leader Shrestha.

In view of the upcoming by-election in Rupandehi-3, the party has intensified activities such as signature campaigns for justice for Lamichhane and voter outreach programs. The RSP stated that the parliamentary meeting is also part of their broader election strategy.
