A total of 27 political parties have submitted applications to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives by-election in Rupandehi-3.
According to the Election Commission, applications for party registration were open from Shrawan 21 to 27, during which 28 applications were received from 27 parties.
Due to internal disputes within the Nagarik Unmukti Party, two separate groups submitted applications. One faction, led by party patron Reshamlal Chaudhary, registered through Ramlal Dagaur, while another, led by party chairperson Ranjita Shrestha, filed separately.
Other parties submitting applications include the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Rastriya Janamorcha, among others.
As per the election schedule, the list of approved parties will be published on Bhadra 1 after scrutiny of the applications.
The by-election is scheduled for Monday, Kartik 17, with candidacy registration set for Ashoj 21. The election is being held following the death of Rastriya Prajatantra Party MP Deepak Bohora, who was elected from Rupandehi-3.
