Astronomers have announced that the upcoming total lunar eclipse on Bhadra 22–23, 2082 (September 7–8, 2025) will be visible from Nepal.
Along with Nepal, the eclipse will also be visible from Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, but not from North and South America. During the total phase, the Moon will appear red, a phenomenon popularly known as the “Blood Moon.”
According to Dr. Sant Kumar Sharma, Executive Director of the BP Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Museum Development Committee, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, the eclipse schedule (Nepali Standard Time) is as follows:
- Penumbral eclipse begins: 9:13 p.m., Bhadra 22
- Total eclipse begins (umbra): 11:15 p.m., Bhadra 22
- Greatest eclipse (midpoint): 11:56 p.m., Bhadra 22
- Total eclipse ends: 12:37 a.m., Bhadra 23
- Penumbral eclipse ends: 2:40 a.m., Bhadra 23
