The GENJI Dialogue Committee, formed to hold discussions with the President, has demanded the creation of an interim constitution and the election of an executive head of the government.
In a press conference held on Sunday, members of the committee presented this proposal. Committee member Pravesh Dahal explained that the committee aimed to resolve the ongoing movement peacefully through discussions with the President.
Dahal made it clear that they do not accept the current constitution. He stated, “This constitution can be abolished by the government. The government has the right to create an interim constitution. The movement has already removed the monarchy, and now there should be no barrier to electing a direct executive head. The government formed under this constitution is not legitimate; it has been created unconstitutionally. Therefore, we must create an interim constitution and hold elections for the executive head.”
The committee’s stance reflects growing dissatisfaction with the current political system and its call for constitutional reform to ensure the election of a directly elected executive head.
