Thursday is Vijaya Dashami, the main day of Durga Paksha.

On this day, people receive the red tika (symbol of auspiciousness) and jamara (symbol of prosperity) from the hands of elders as the blessing of Goddess Durga. The tika and jamara are considered sacred offerings of the goddess, worshipped for nine days at home or in prayer rooms, and distributed today.

The auspicious time (sait) for receiving tika is said to be 11:53 AM this morning.

However, since Vijaya Dashami itself is regarded as an inherently auspicious day, it is believed that ordinary people do not need to seek a specific time to receive tika. The time for the ritual immersion of the goddess (Devi Bisarjan) has been fixed at 9:23 AM, according to the Nepal Panchang Nirnayak Development Committee.

The tika on Vijaya Dashami is prepared by performing Vedic rituals with water from the sacred ghada (vessel) that was established on the day of Ghatasthapana. On Ashwin Shukla Dashami, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated with great joy and devotion by receiving tika and jamara as offerings of Goddess Durga from elders.

Those who cannot receive tika today may still do so until Kojagrat Purnima. Vijaya Dashami, celebrated as the victory of truth over falsehood and divine power over demonic forces, is the most important day of the great festival Dashain.
