The District Administration Office, Makwanpur, has imposed a ban on night-time vehicular movement along the historic Tribhuvan Highway, which connects Kathmandu to the federal capital, and the shorter Kanti Lok Path.
Issuing a notice on Thursday evening, the administration announced that the restriction will remain in effect from Ashwin 17 to Ashwin 20.
According to the notice issued by Chief District Officer (CDO) Skim Shrestha, vehicular movement on Kanti Lok Path is prohibited from 4 PM to 6 AM, while the section of the Tribhuvan Highway between Bhaise and Kathmandu will remain closed from 5 PM to 6 AM.
The decision was taken after the Meteorological Forecasting Division warned of heavy rainfall in Makwanpur and surrounding districts. The administration stated that the ban aims to minimize potential loss of life and property due to landslides and floods during nighttime travel.
