Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Vice-Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been arrested. Police confirmed that Mahara was taken into custody from Kathmandu.
A few days ago, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had interrogated him in connection with the case involving the smuggling of 9 kilograms of gold hidden inside vape cases.
He has been arrested for further investigation into the gold smuggling case.
