Police have taken singer Babul Giri into custody in connection with an attempted self-immolation incident involving singer Nitu Paudel.
Paudel attempted to set herself on fire on Saturday at Giri’s studio located in Anamnagar. Following the incident, police detained Giri for questioning.
Spokesperson of Kathmandu District Police Range, SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, confirmed that Giri was taken into custody for interrogation regarding the young woman’s attempted self-immolation.
Singer Paudel attempted self-immolation inside Giri’s studio on Saturday, during which Giri also sustained minor injuries.
Giri was discharged from Kirtipur Burn Hospital on the same day. Soon after his discharge, police detained him for further investigation related to the incident.
