CPN (Unified Socialist) General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal has strongly criticized the party’s ongoing unification process with the Maoist Centre, accusing the majority of the Central Committee of “surrendering.” Announcing his opposition, Bhusal declared that a national gathering will be held in the first week of Mangsir to determine the future course of action.
Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Bhusal claimed that although the majority of the Central Committee has surrendered, his faction still holds a majority at the district level. He stated, “Even though most of the central leaders have surrendered, we still have the majority across districts — that’s undeniable.”
Bhusal added that despite any legal or formal developments, many members of the Standing Committee, Politburo, Central Committee, provincial and district committees, departments, and mass organizations remain politically active under the Unified Socialist banner.
He said that “revolutionary comrades” will gather during the national assembly in early Mangsir to discuss and decide on the future democratic path. Bhusal also expressed confidence that many leftist groups would eventually join the campaign to reorganize the communist movement in Nepal.
