Minister Jagadish Kharel Launches Free Internet Service at New Bus Park


Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has inaugurated a free internet service at the New Bus Park in Gongabu.

After assuming office on September 22 (Ashoj 6) with a commitment to expand access to free Wi-Fi in key public locations across the Kathmandu Valley, Minister Kharel officially launched the service today.

On the occasion, Minister Kharel announced that free Wi-Fi connections have been installed in 19 different locations within the Kathmandu Valley. He stated, “As per my commitment made during the assumption of office, we have started installing free internet services, and we plan to gradually expand them beyond the Valley.”

The minister informed that the government is working to extend internet connectivity even to remote areas such as Darchula, Bajhang, Jajarkot, and the Tilicho Base Camp in Manang. He added that efforts are underway to improve internet access in Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, Rautahat, Myagdi, and Baitadi, where network connectivity remains weak.

Minister Kharel further mentioned that the government aims to provide free internet service in all seven provincial capitals and ensure the availability of telephone and internet connections in every corner of the country.
