Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has emphasized the need for major reforms, purification, and revival within the party.
In a message shared on social media, Thapa said that questions are now being raised about the Nepali Congress’s long-standing struggle for social transformation, making internal cleansing and rejuvenation essential.
“It’s no longer enough to just talk — we need real change,” he said. “Reform must begin within the party itself. How we purify and revive it will determine how a renewed and awakened Congress can improve governance.”
Thapa added that the Gen Z movement has questioned the Nepali Congress for not upholding its own democratic values and principles. Admitting past mistakes, he said the party must make fresh commitments and plans through its upcoming convention.
“We made mistakes in the past. The question now is — how do we ensure they don’t repeat? How do we separate corruption from society and institutions? These are the commitments we must make in our next convention,” he said, adding that the Nepali Congress is not a party tied to power, but one connected to people’s ideals.
