Government Announces Rs 15,000 Relief for Those Injured in the Gen-Z Protests

The government has decided to provide immediate relief of Rs 15,000 per person to those injured during the Gen-Z protests. The decision was made at the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, a total of 2,429 individuals injured during the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24 will receive the relief amount.

The meeting also approved the acceptance of approximately USD 5 million in grant assistance from the Government of Norway and USD 2.1 million from the Government of Switzerland for the Provincial and Local Government Support Programme.

Similarly, a committee has been formed to study and provide suggestions for the restructuring of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). The committee, named ‘NEPSE Restructuring Suggestion Committee–2082’, will be led by Prajash Jung KC.

The Cabinet has also recommended to the President the ordinance prepared to amend the Special Service Act, 2042.

Additionally, the government has fixed the trekking permit fee for foreign nationals in the Upper Mustang region at USD 50 per person per day (or equivalent foreign currency). For this purpose, changes will be made to Schedule-12 of the Immigration Regulations, 2051.

The meeting also appointed Dr. Kalpana Kumari Shrestha as the Executive Director of the Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre.
