The arrested individual has been identified as 45-year-old Manoj Kumar Yadav of Portaha, Ward No. 3, Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality.
Yadav is the operator of Janata Agriculture Cooperative Limited.
According to DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri of the Saptari District Police Office, Yadav was arrested on Sunday based on special information that he was selling government-subsidized chemical fertilizer at a higher price on the black market. A total of 240 sacks of fertilizer were seized.
From truck Na 6 Kha 6284, police recovered 130 sacks, each weighing 50 kg. An additional 110 sacks that had already been unloaded and stored in the cooperative’s warehouse were also seized, making the total 240 sacks, along with the truck.
The Saptari District Police Office stated that the District Court has extended Yadav’s custody by seven days for further investigation under black-marketing charges.
