Surkhet — A couple died after suffering an electric shock while cutting grass at Birendranagar Municipality-12, Neware. They were seriously injured and later died during treatment, according to the District Police Office, Surkhet.
The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Dhaniram Acharya and his 50-year-old wife, Dhankumari Upadhyay. The couple was cutting grass using an electric machine at their home when they received the fatal shock.
Both were injured on Friday morning and immediately taken to Province Hospital, Kalagaun, Surkhet, for treatment. However, they succumbed to their injuries during treatment, said DSP Mohan Jung Budhathapa, spokesperson of the District Police Office.
Police said further investigation is underway. Preliminary reports suggest that the accident might have occurred due to a fault in the electrical line of the grass-cutting machine.
