The only road connecting the Himalayan district of Manang, the Besisahar–Chame road, has been completely blocked due to a landslide. According to Ward Chairperson Bal Bahadur Gurung, the landslide occurred late Monday night at Hawadanda in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality–4, completely obstructing the roadway.
Police Inspector Raj Kishor Sah Teli, the information officer at the District Police Office, stated that due to continuous rainfall and the timing of the landslide, it was not possible to clear the debris on Monday night. However, efforts to reopen the road began early Tuesday morning in coordination with the Dumre–Besisahar–Chame Road Project, he added.
The areas of Chyamche, Jagat, and Hawadanda in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality–4 frequently experience landslides, often involving large boulders that block the road. According to local resident Chandra Gurung, the landslide has also disrupted electricity services in the region.
This road section faces repeated landslide-related disruptions every monsoon, causing significant inconvenience to travelers. Since it is the only route that connects Manang and Marsyangdi residents to other parts of the country via Besisahar, such blockages create major challenges. The police have advised the general public to travel only after checking road conditions during the rainy season.
