The official fixture for the Third International Invitational Taplejung Gold Cup has been announced. The schedule was unveiled on Thursday from the sacred Pathibhara Temple area with the aim of promoting the religious site through sports.
Organized by the Lakhe Jatra Organizing Committee, the tournament is set to begin from Shrawan 24 (August 8) at the playground of Bhanujan Secondary School in Phungling. The opening match will see host team Tellok Sporting Club compete against The Young Brothers Football Club, Itahari Sunsari.
The second match, scheduled for Shrawan 25 (August 9), will be played between Sahara Club Pokhara and Red Star Football Club Jhapa. On Shrawan 26 (August 10), the third match will feature Legend Football Academy Siliguri, India, taking on Church Boys, Lalitpur. The final quarterfinal match will be held on Shrawan 27 (August 11) between Salhesh Youth Club, Siraha, and Phidim Sporting Club, Panchthar.
According to the organizers, semifinal matches will take place on Shrawan 28 and 29 (August 12 and 13), while the final match is scheduled for Shrawan 31 (August 15).
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of NPR 702,082, along with a trophy, medals, and certificates. The runner-up will be awarded NPR 350,082. Additionally, the best player of the tournament will receive a Yamaha motorbike. Various other categories will also feature cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, as confirmed by the organizing committee.
