One person has died and 12 others were injured in a bus accident that occurred today in Bardaghat, Nawalparasi.
The bus, with registration number Lu 2 Kha 657, was heading from Butwal to Narayanghat when it lost control and crashed in the Bardaghat market area. According to police, the deceased is a male, but his identity has yet to be confirmed.
He was taken to Chisapani Hospital in Bardaghat in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Among the 12 injured, five are reported to be in serious condition and have been referred to Butwal for further treatment, while the remaining are receiving care at local hospitals.
According to DSP Veer Dutta Pant, spokesperson of the District Police Office, the accident occurred when the bus attempted to avoid hitting an auto-rickshaw in front of it, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and overturn. The bus driver is currently in police custody.
