Thailand’s Constitutional Court has dismissed Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra from office on charges of violating ethical standards.
The court ruled on Friday that a phone conversation related to a border dispute with Cambodia amounted to a breach of the constitution.
With the verdict taking immediate effect, Paetongtarn loses the post she had held for nearly a year. She had already been suspended on July 1 after the court agreed to hear the case, during which Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai assumed her responsibilities.
