At least 34 people have died and several others remain missing after a tourist boat capsized in northern Vietnam’s popular tourist destination, Ha Long Bay, due to bad weather.
The tragic incident occurred amid heavy rain and stormy conditions. Most of the passengers on board were Vietnamese families from Hanoi, according to local authorities.
Rescue teams are facing difficulties in the search operation due to continuous torrential rain. Among the recovered bodies, at least eight are children. However, 11 people have been rescued alive from the water.
According to the Vietnamese Border Guard, the boat named “Wander Seaz” was carrying 53 passengers when it overturned after being hit by sudden strong winds and a storm.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing to locate the missing individuals.
