Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that his party will not back down from the provision of a two-year “cooling-off period” included in the Federal Civil Service Bill. Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday to mark BP Memorial Day, Dr. Mahat made it clear that the Congress cannot compromise on an issue that was unanimously passed by the parliamentary committee.
He emphasized that Prime Minister and UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli should take a positive stance on the Congress party’s position. “The Prime Minister must accept our legitimate demands,” he said. “The Congress is not a party that makes unnecessary demands. It is a liberal party, and the Prime Minister must address its concerns. The cooling-off period was unanimously endorsed by the committee, and Congress cannot compromise on its implementation.”
Dr. Mahat also remarked that issues related to other land-related bills must be resolved through broader discussions, adding that unilateral imposition of decisions will not be acceptable.
