A tragic jeep accident in Bajura has claimed the lives of two elderly individuals and left 12 others injured.
The victims have been identified as 73-year-old Baza Rokaya and 75-year-old Bijura Rokaya, both residents of Synyabada, Himali Rural Municipality–5.
According to the District Police Office, Bajura, the accident occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday when a jeep (registration number 03001 Ja 0338) traveling from Kyudi to Dhulachaur veered off the road near Kyudi and fell approximately 250 meters downhill. The two elderly passengers died on the spot.
Police Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary informed that the 12 injured passengers are being taken to Kolti Primary Hospital for treatment.
“The cause of the accident is still under investigation,” said Inspector Chaudhary.
There were 26 people on board the jeep. While two died at the scene and 12 sustained injuries, the remaining 12 passengers were unharmed, according to police reports.
