The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) boycotted Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, demanding a high-level judicial or special parliamentary investigation into the recent visit visa scandal.
The protest began shortly after Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire announced the start of the meeting. Lawmakers from both RSP and RPP stood up in objection. Speaker Ghimire then allowed RSP lawmaker Dr. Toshima Karki to speak. Addressing the House, Dr. Karki stated that their party would continue to protest until a proper investigation committee is formed in line with their demands.
Following her remarks, RPP lawmaker Deepak Bahadur Singh also spoke, reiterating that their party’s call for an investigation into the visit visa issue had not been fulfilled, and their protest would continue until their demands were met.
After delivering their statements, lawmakers from both parties walked out of the meeting hall in protest.
