The High-Level Investigation Commission has summoned Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane for questioning.
The commission, led by Gauribahadur Karki, called Lamichhane to inquire about the incident in which he reportedly left Nakkhu Prison during the Gen Z movement. He is scheduled to appear at the commission’s office in Singha Durbar at 1 p.m. today.
Lamichhane, who was then the former Home Minister, had been in custody for a cooperative fund embezzlement case when he, citing security reasons, exited the prison premises along with other inmates on Bhadra 24.
Questions were later raised about the authenticity of the letter issued by the prison administration permitting his temporary exit. Lamichhane subsequently returned to prison following the controversy.
