A unification of eight communist factions is taking place at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. The alliance includes the CPN (Maoist Centre), the CPN (Unified Socialist), and six other communist parties.
As part of the unification agreement, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the outgoing chairman and current coordinator of the Maoist Centre, will serve as the Coordinator, while Madhav Kumar Nepal, the chairman of the Unified Socialist, will assume the role of Co-Coordinator of the newly unified party.
