Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai has been remanded to four days in police custody for further investigation. The Kathmandu District Administration Office granted permission to keep him in custody for four days. Prasai was arrested late Monday night from his residence. He had recently announced that he would begin a nationwide protest from the second week of Mangsir and had been actively preparing for it. He faces charges of disturbing peace and security. A police team arrived at his house around midnight to take him into custody. Supporters of the “Dharma-Sanskriti and Citizen Protection Campaign” staged demonstrations protesting his arrest.
The price of gold in the Nepali market saw a significant drop today, Mangsir 2. Compared to Monday, the price of gold decreased by Rs 3,800 per tola on Tuesday. One person has died in a car accident in Bhumi, Nawalparasi. The accident occurred when a car (Bagmati Province 23 Cha 5075), traveling east from Butwal, veered off a bridge at Badera, Bhumi, and fell into a river. Maniram Poudel of Dhatiwang, Arghakhanchi, who was critically injured in the crash, died while undergoing treatment.
