Three Girls Drown While Swimming in Kailali

Three young girls lost their lives due to drowning while swimming in the Kulriya River under the Rani Jamara Irrigation System in Kailali district. According to police, the deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Sulochana Timilsina Upadhyay of Janaki Rural Municipality-5, Nawalpur, 10-year-old Nisha Bajgai, and 8-year-old Mansi Bajgai. Nisha and Mansi were twin sisters. Preliminary investigation suggests that one of the girls drowned while swimming, and the other two drowned while trying to rescue her. Three people were killed and six others were injured in a Bolero jeep accident in Solukhumbu on Thursday evening. The incident occurred at around 6:30 PM in Bhirakuna, Mapya Dudhkoshi–6, when a Bolero jeep (Bagmati Province 01-031 Cha 5924) veered off the road and fell approximately 500 meters down a hillside. Out of the 11 passengers onboard, three women died on the spot. According to police, among the six injured, three are in moderate condition while two sustained minor injuries.
