A complaint has been filed against Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and “Hami Nepal” founder Sudan Gurung in Siraha district as well. Leaders of the National Youth Association Nepal, a sister organization affiliated with the CPN (UML), lodged the complaint at the Siraha District Police Office. The complaint accuses Shah and Gurung of making statements that violate the election code of conduct and of engaging in activities that create social division. Krishna Bahadur Mahara, leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Speaker of the House, has been formally charged in connection with a gold smuggling case. The District Government Attorney’s Office filed the case against Mahara today at the Kathmandu District Court.
