A unification of eight communist factions is taking place at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. The alliance includes the CPN (Maoist Centre), the CPN (Unified Socialist), and six other communist parties. As part of the unification agreement, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the outgoing chairman and current coordinator of the Maoist Centre, will serve as the Coordinator, while Madhav Kumar Nepal, the chairman of the Unified Socialist, will assume the role of Co-Coordinator of the newly unified party.

The High-Level Investigation Commission has summoned Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane for questioning. After the unification of eight political parties and groups, including the CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist), the new party will be named the “Nepali Communist Party.” The decision was approved during the final meeting of the National Convention Organizing Committee of the Maoist Centre held on Tuesday. Surkhet police have arrested three individuals with illegal narcotics (brown sugar). A man died after being electrocuted while fishing in Chhabdikholaa, Byas Municipality-1, Tanahun, on Monday night. According to the District Police Office, the deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Amit Suyal of the same locality. At around 11:45 p.m., 40-year-old Ram Bahadur Gharti, his 54-year-old brother Shukra Gharti, and Amit Suyal had connected electric wires to a power plug from Ram Bahadur’s house and used it to catch fish in the stream.
