Senior Accounting Officer of Dailekh Arrested with NPR 100,000 Bribe

Tanka Bahadur Karki, a senior accounting officer (Seventh Level) of Dungeshwor Rural Municipality in Dailekh, has been arrested with a bribe of NPR 100,000. The team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) office in Surkhet caught him red-handed on Thursday night in Birendranagar. Dharma Budha, Information Officer at the CIAA Surkhet office, told Ratopati that Karki was apprehended while taking the bribe from a service seeker. Budha added, “He was caught with NPR 100,000. Further details will be issued by the central office.” The CIAA is continuing its investigation into the matter.

Two Killed, 22 Injured in Sunsari Bus-Truck Collision

Two people were killed and 22 others injured when a bus collided with a stationary truck at Pulchowk in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality–3, Sunsari, today. According to police, a passenger bus (Province 1-02-002 Kha 0949) traveling eastward along the East-West Highway rammed into a broken-down truck (Na 6 Kha 3733) that had been parked on the roadside. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yogaraj Khatri of Sunsari informed that the identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. Landslide Blocks Mahakali Highway

A landslide has blocked the Mahakali Highway at Salsena in Dogadakedar Rural Municipality–5 this morning. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Kumar Rai, the landslide completely obstructed traffic after debris fell from above the road. Vehicles heading to and from Darchula have been stranded midway due to the road closure. DSP Rai said that efforts are underway in coordination with the Road Division Office and local authorities to clear the debris and reopen the highway.
