Kathmandu, Bhadra 19 — An additional 19 Nepalis deported by the United States arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday evening. Among them were two women and 17 men. According to Senior Immigration Officer Anjan Nyaupane, the Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport completed the required procedures and handed them over to the Nepal Police for further inquiry. So far, a total of 215 Nepalis have been deported from the US in different phases prior to this.

On Bhadra 22 (Sunday), Bagmati Province has declared a public holiday in three districts: Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Dhading. The holiday is on the occasion of Chhonam (Nwagi), the national festival of the Chepang community. The Chepang people celebrate Nwagi as an important cultural festival. Chepang communities reside in Chitwan, Makwanpur, and Dhading districts of Bagmati Province. According to the 2078 B.S. census, the Chepang population in Nepal is 84,364. They mainly inhabit western Makwanpur, northern Chitwan, and southern Dhading.

Following government directives, internet service provider WorldLink has blocked social media platforms that are not registered in Nepal. In a notice issued Friday morning, WorldLink stated that the action was taken as per instructions from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has announced that it will begin the process of gradually deactivating all social media platforms that are not registered with the ministry. The body of an unidentified woman was discovered near the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa. According to the District Police Office, Palpa, the body was found in a stream at Rambha-3, Sitapahad.
